MZB 506 Venusa Cru Mazzorbo 2024

80,00

The new Venusa Cru project is born from a desire to “listen” to the Lagoon in its most radical form, embarking on an unprecedented challenge: cultivating the Dorona grape across three islands in the Native Venice archipelago that are deceptively close yet worlds apart, seemingly similar yet profoundly different. The soil’s salinity, shifting in balance and contrast across the estate’s three vineyards, serves as the creative force driving this exploration.

rom the Walled Vineyard (Vigna Murata) of Mazzorbo comes Venusa Cru MZB 506. These Dorona grapes are sourced from a selection of micro-parcels within the estate: the most intimate and soulful plots, capable of reflecting the site’s primal heritage and the full vision of the Venissa project. Here, the salt content of 506 p.p.m. is not a threat, but rather a condition of natural symbiosis between the vineyard and its environment. The resulting wine is broad and enveloping, with a textural depth that unfolds on the palate. It is a conscious expression where identity and memory converge.

Venusa

Amidst salt marshes and saline soils, a unique terroir between land and sea reveals excellence with an incomparable flavor.

We find ourselves immersed in a rarefied, almost ethereal atmosphere, in a time that seems to have drifted beyond the reach of reality.

The Venissa estate is located on Mazzorbo, an island that – together with Torcello and Burano – forms the heart of Native Venice: an archipelago of nature, vibrant colors, authentic flavors, and art.

Venissa is a quintessential example of a “vigna murata” (walled vineyard). Within its walls grows the Dorona di Venezia, a native lagoon grape cultivated for centuries and nearly driven to extinction following the historic Great Flood of 1966.
Today, this historic “clos” produces just 3,000 bottles of Venissa per year. Highly coveted by enthusiasts, it was named the Best White Wine in the World by VinePair in 2016. It is a one-of-a-kind wine, defined by briny notes that evoke the essence and aromas of the lagoon.
